The EBO was formally invited to the 9th Presidential Quarterly Business Forum (QBF), which took place on Monday, 8th October 2018 at the old Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja and was chaired by H.E. the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo SAN. The 9th QBF was centered on Job Creation.

A presentation was made of the N-Power Project, which is to employ and train 500,000 young graduates and non-graduates, including in Construction (N-Power Build), Technology (N-Power Tech) as well as other categories (N-Power Volunteer Corps, N-Power Teach, N-Power Agro & N-Power Health).

A mention was also made that 90% of new jobs for Nigerians will have to come from the Private Sector, as the primary responsibility of Government is to provide a business conducive environment for the private sector to create jobs.

Mr Simon Melchior, Chief Executive Officer of Asseco Software Nigeria Ltd. and Board Member of the European Business Organization (EBO) Nigeria represented the Organization at the Forum by introducing its mission statement and purpose to the audience and mentioning its recent launch at the EU-Nigeria Business Summit. Mr Melchior stressed the need for all stakeholders, including the organized private sector, to focus on restoring the high levels of GDP growth that Nigeria experienced between 2005-15 (over 6% per annum during the period), as an engine of job creation, which requires decisive coordinated action. He stressed the willingness of the EBO-Nigeria to engage in a constructive dialogue with the Federal Government in this respect, so as to proffer some concrete possible initiatives. He also mentioned that he would take back to the EBO-Nigeria the expressed request for assistance in providing apprenticeship and employment opportunities for the N-Power trainees.
